How to spend less at IKEA
Excellent piece in the Guardian's Science Weekly Podcast (31 Jan 2011) about the psychology of store design at IKEA. It seems the only way to avoid excessive spending in the eponymous Swedish store is to start at the exit and walk backwards through the store - by which I mean walk in the opposite direction to the arrows and not actually walking backwards. Sounds fine but if it catches on I'm sure the clever business minds at the blue and yellow monster will find new ways to keep us shopping to the max.
