Delays, what delays

Every UK train passenger will tell you that the train service is routinely awful. Clearly this is due to the privatisation of the rail network. (The aim of privatisation was supposed to bring competition and lower costs to the sector. There is now no competition, each company has a local monopoly. And the costs to the public purse has increased many fold since privatisation.). But this blog is not a whinge about privatisation.

No this a moan about the tossers who run our trains. As their first concern is their profits it has become standard practice for them to screw their passengers. Their latest wheeze is to ensure they pay almost nothing if there is a delay.

Remember the snow in December last year? Did you know the poor passengers who got stuck on board trains overnight receive a few shopping vouchers as compensation?

The rail monopolists hate paying compensation so much that they have hired 300 'delay attribution officers' whose job it is to find
